The choice faced by Americans needs to be made in one week. In Scranton, Pennsylvania, some millennials are opting for a different option \u2013 third party candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">Michael Joyce was one of them. One week after submitting his vote via absentee ballot, the senior history major from the University of Scranton, sat in a coffee shop downtown. \u201cThe guy I voted for is\u2026\u201d, after searching in mind for a while, \u201cI can\u2019t remember his name.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">This registered and \u201cproud\u201d Republican finally remembered voting for Gary Johnson from the Libertarian Party for his first presidential vote. He gave up on his party\u2019s candidate after hearing Donald Trump\u2019s misogynistic comments on women in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">\u201cI realize many may see this as a throwaway vote,\u201d said Joyce, \u201cbut I see it as a protest vote against our screwed-up system which needs to change.\u201d He admitted he didn\u2019t put much time looking into Johnson\u2019s policies, but knew he was once a successful governor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">For many, the choice this year is between \u201clesser of two evils\u201d. \u201cA particular about this election is how disliked the two candidates are,\u201d said Stephen Anolabehere, a professor of government from Harvard University, during a panel discussion about polling in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">In Scranton, a city with both Catholic and union traditions, young people seem to find the choice even harder. Some Democratic Catholic students cannot agree with Hillary Clinton for her strongly pro-choice views. And the way Trump talks and behaves may bother them as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">\u201cHe hurts people outwardly in the things he says and the way he phrases things in his \u201canti-political correctness\u201d campaign,\u201d said Anthony Ricci, a 23-year-old student in Scranton.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">Ricci said he would vote for Gary Johnson even though he doesn\u2019t agree with all of his policies. \u201cMy disdain for Trump is not enough to convince me to vote for Hillary,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">A poll by the New York Times and CBS News in September showed more than a third of voters aging 18 to 29 said they would vote for either Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate, or Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate. Johnson had the support of 26 percent of those voters, and Stein had 10 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">Lou Jasikoff, the director for Johnson\u2019s campaign in Midwest, who is from Scranton, attributed Johnson\u2019s popularity among the younger generation to social network and smartphone. \u201cThey are less affected by the corrupted mass media, so they saw more options outside the rigged system,\u201d Jasikoff said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">Michael Joyce can\u2019t wait for the end of the Election Day. \u201cI\u2019m getting so bored of it,\u201d he said. \u201cAfter that, I can finally watch YouTube without those annoying campaign ads.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"copyIcon copy0\" style=\"display: none; left: 907.75px; top: 1255.75px;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"pasteIcon paste0\" style=\"display: none; left: 915px; top: 93px;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"notifyIcon\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by\u00a0Krystal Hu Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump?
